National Blonde Brownie Day

What do you do with your kids on a cold, snowy, Friday night when all the restaurants are still closed, bowling alleys and other entertainment facilities are also still closed, you can’t get concessions if you take them to a movie theater…well here is a suggestion.  Make blondies!

January 22nd is National Blonde Brownie Day.  Blondies – or blond brownies – substitute the cocoa in traditional brownies with brown sugar and vanilla, resulting in a delicious, butterscotch-flavored treat.  Rumor has it that the first recipe for “brownies” contained no chocolate at all, which would have made them a blondie!  Enjoy them warmed up with ice cream or at room temperature for a quick treat.  Make them your own by adding white or chocolate chips, toffee pieces, sprinkles, nuts, etc.  Check out this recipe, which is one of many you can find with a quick Google search!

So what do you think?  Do blondes really have more fun?   Or do you prefer chocolate brownies???
