Looking for a fun and educational afternoon that the whole family can enjoy? Head over to Kensington Metropark (4570 Huron River Parkway, Milford, MI 48380) on Feb 23rd or 24th to learn maple’s sweet story!
Take a guided walk through the farm’s sugar bush. Learn how to pick the right tree, then watch how the trees are tapped and sap is collected. Learn how the techniques have changed over the years when you stop by the French and Native camp, and then stop by the sugar shack to watch (and smell!) the sap being boiled down into maple sugar. Free samples of maple syrup will be available at the end of the tour, along with treats for purchase, including pancakes and real maple sugar products.
Tours begin every half hour, last for approximately one hour, and are entirely outdoors (so dress appropriately!). Cost is $5 per adult, $3 per child. A metroparks vehicle permit is required for entry (may be purchased upon entry or at http://metroparks.com/).
