    Local Memorial Day Events

    Believe it or not, Memorial Day is only a week away!  If you are staying in town and looking for a way to celebrate, check out one of the many parades that will be happening in the area, and remember and honor the veterans who fought to keep us safe and free!

     

    Livingston County Parades happening on Monday, May 27, 2019

     

    Milford Memorial Day Parade 11 AM – 1 PM

    Over 1000 veterans will gather in downtown Milford for the solemn yet celebratory procession, including military vehicles, local police and fire departments, marching bands, scouting organizations, and more.  The parade will travel East on Commerce Rd. and south on Main St., ending in Milford’s Central Park with a brief ceremony and remembrance event.  There will even be a Sikorsky Blackhawk helicopter landing in Central Park at 9 AM which the public is invited to come see up close.  Military flyovers will occur at various times between 11 AM and noon.

     

    Plymouth Memorial Day Parade 9 AM

    The parade will march up Main Street beginning at 9:00 and end at Veteran’s Park at Main and Church Streets with a special program saluting our veterans.

     

    Howell Memorial Day Parade 10 AM

    The annual parade in downtown Howell will begin at the Howell Carnegie Library.  The parade will travel east on Grand River, making stops by the Livingston Courthouse at the Revolutionary Monument, as well as the Veterans Monument, for the laying of wreaths.  It will then make its way to Bernard Street, turn north, and head to Lakeview Cemetery for a ceremony where a wreath will be laid.

     

    Fowlerville Memorial Day Parade 10 AM

    The parade will begin at the VFW Post 6464, 215 S. Veterans Drive and head east down Grand River Ave. through downtown to a ceremony at Greenwood Cemetery on Cemetery Rd.

     

    Brighton Memorial Day Parade 10 AM

    The procession will begin at Brighton High School and proceed down Main St. to the Mill Pond and the Brighton Veterans Memorial.  The Veterans of Foreign Wars will be featured, along with the American Legion, Sons of the Legion, AmVets and the VFW Auxiliary.  Flowers will be laid at the memorial by the VFW Auxiliary. Several battlefield crosses will be on display from 9 AM to noon at the Memorial.

     

    Hartland Memorial Day Parade 12 PM

    The event kicks off with a pancake breakfast from 7 AM to 11 AM at Village Elementary School (10632 Hibner Rd.).  The parade will begin at noon at Ore Creek Middle School.

     

    Hamburg Memorial Day Parade 10 AM

    This parade begins at the Old Fire Station off Hamburg Rd. and travels through the Village of Hamburg to Hamburg Cemetery off Strawberry Lake Rd.  A service honoring our veterans will follow.
