    Brighton Area Schools

What makes Brighton Area Schools one of the “premier school districts” in the state of Michigan?

Brighton Area Schools serves the city of Brighton, townships of Green Oak, Brighton in Livingston County and parts of Lyon Township in adjacent Oakland County. The district has approximately 6000  students in grades PK-12, with a student-teacher ratio of 20 to 1.  There are seven schools in the district, consisting of four elementary schools (K-4), two intermediate schools (5-8), and the high school (9-12).

Brighton Area Schools’ motto is, “Learning for Life.”  The district even employs therapy dogs!  These wonderful Social/Emotional Dogs assist teachers by working with students who feel angry, are being bullied, bullying others, or have other behavior problems.  Students also read to the dogs, which helps them to improve both their reading and comprehension skills.

There are plenty of athletic opportunities within Brighton Area Schools as well,  including 32 interscholastic programs.  At Brighton High School 54% of students play at least 1 sport, and 74% of those student athletes earn a 3.0 or better GPA.

Brighton offers quality private and charter schools as well.  The excellent school district is just one of many reasons you may want to consider making Brighton your home!
